Leia passing

Hi – sorry for the morning news, but we did euthanize Leia this morning.  Her condition was deteriorating – and her kidneys had quit functioning.

Sorry for this bad news – but I did want to share it with you.  I have been with her most of the time and giving critical care and love.  Our staff all were able to give their last goodbyes and no dry eyes.

She was loved by many and has been here so long.  Matti this morning saw me sitting with her and said, “ I remember when she came in, you were sitting there with her, just like now…”

All the best,
Laurie

I am so sorry, Laurie. I know it was hard for you and the others to say goodbye today to that infinitely precious and loved member of the CCF family. Sweet little Leia is now well and strong--and waiting for us...

Sorry to hear about Leia. She was blessed to have fallen into CCFs caring hands as a poor starving orphan. It is because of her story and many like her that I support CCF 110%. RIP Leia.

  6. Laurie,

My thoughts are with you. These cheetahs are your family and the losses are no less than a family member.

All the best, Janet (Golden) Waggoner

  8. As Dutch adoption parents of Leia we shed a few tears hearing the news, but we are so very grateful that Leia could live and pass away the way she did. We thank Laurie and her team for everything they did for Leia and wish them lots of strength.

  9. We are so grateful for all the sweet messages we have been receiving, both here on this blog and privately. Leia was a super cheetah, and we will always think of her as one of our "founding" cheetahs.
